Well salts are involatile, whereas water is (reasonably) volatile.
One way to separate the two is to boil the water and then condense the distillate; however, this method is not cost-effective when done on a large scale. Alternatively, sea salt can be extracted from brine by evaporating the water, but in this case, the water is evaporated using solar radiation.
