What class of biomolecules do antibodies belong?

Answer 1

Proteins make up antibodies.

The immune system uses an antibody (Ab), also called an immunoglobulin (Ig), which is a large Y-shaped protein made by plasma cells. Its purpose is to recognize and neutralize foreign substances like bacteria and viruses.

The antigen is a distinct portion of the foreign target that the antibody recognizes. Each tip of the "Y" in an antibody is specific for a single epitope (think of it like a key) on the antigen, which enables these two structures to bind together precisely.

The primary function of the humoral immune system is to produce antibodies. By using this binding mechanism, an antibody can either directly neutralize its target (for example, by blocking a part of a microbe that is essential for its invasion and survival) or tag a microbe or an infected cell for attack by other parts of the immune system.

When evaluating a one-sided limit, you need to be careful when a quantity is approaching zero since its sign is different depending on which way it is approaching zero from. Let us look at some examples.
