What are the names to each of the following amines: #CH_3-NH-CH_2-CH_3# and #(CH_3CH_2)_3N#?
Amines are named using one of two systems.
Typical Names
Alkylamines are the names given to amines, and the alkyl groups are arranged alphabetically.
It's ethylmethylamine, abbreviated as CH₃NHCH₃CH₃.
N is triethylamine (CH₃CH₃)₃.
IUPAC Titles
The IUPAC names become more intricate.
Secondary and tertiary amines that are symmetric
(a) Prior to the name "azane" (NH₃), cite the name of the alkyl groups followed by the numerical prefix "di-" or "tri-".
N is triethylazane, or (CH₃CH₃)₃.
(b) Refer to the alkyl group names R, which should come before "di-" or "tri-" and come after the word "amine" without a pause.
N is triethylamine (CH₃CH₃)₃.
Secondary and tertiary amines that are not symmetric
(a) as azane (NH3) substituted derivatives.
It is (ethyl)(methyl)azane, or CH₃NHCH₃CH₃.
(b) either as secondary amine RNH₂NH or as N-substituted derivatives of a primary amine RNH₃.
It's N-methylethylamine, or CH₃NHCH₃CH₃.
(c) by listing all substituent group names in alphabetical order, with the class name "amine" coming immediately after, without a space between them and the appropriate numerical prefixes.
What is ethyl(methyl)amine? CH₃NHCH₃CH₃
I won't tell you about the other system, which is the CAS system. There is still another system.

When evaluating a one-sided limit, you need to be careful when a quantity is approaching zero since its sign is different depending on which way it is approaching zero from. Let us look at some examples.
