What are the most important discoveries made through research in astronomy?
I would say the heliocentric view and the Big Bang theory.
As time went on, this idea gained more and more evidence and is now accepted as scientific fact. The Copernican Revolution fundamentally altered not only astronomy but also human culture by demonstrating that we were not the center of the universe. In 1543, Copernicus proposed the then-heterodox theory that the Earth and all the planets revolved around the Sun. At the time, the view was that the Earth was the center of the universe and everything, including the Sun, revolved around us.
The other great revolution in astronomy was the Big Bang Theory, which essentially explained how the universe began some 13.7 billion years ago. This theory was put forth in 1927, but it took more than 50 years for it to be widely accepted in science. It also rocked our cultural conceptions because the Big Bang theory did not postulate a god or gods to initiate the process, which irked the Church. However, they managed to attribute a role to God in the Big Bang process, which still annoys astronomers!

When evaluating a one-sided limit, you need to be careful when a quantity is approaching zero since its sign is different depending on which way it is approaching zero from. Let us look at some examples.
