What are the effects of visual pollution?
Visual pollution affects some creatures
Sea turtles need light to begin their journey (from their nests), and if resorts emit light, the turtles will travel against the sea, which will result in their death because they will never reach the sea.
Light pollution drastically changes the environment of nocturnal animals by turning night into day, causing them to rest during the day and become active at night (International Dark Sky Association, 2017).
For nocturnal animals, "the introduction of artificial light probably represents the most drastic change human beings have made to their environment," says research scientist Christopher Kyba (International Dark Sky Association, 2017).
"Near cities, cloudy skies are now hundreds, or even thousands of times brighter than they were 200 years ago. We are only beginning to learn what a drastic effect this has had on nocturnal ecology," Kyba says. "Predators use light to hunt, and prey species use darkness as cover." (International Dark Sky Association, 2017).
Artificial lights disrupt this nocturnal activity, interfering with reproduction and reducing populations. Glare from artificial lights can also impact wetland habitats that are home to amphibians, such as frogs and toads, whose nighttime croaking is part of the breeding ritual (International Dark Sky Association, 2017).

Visual pollution can have several effects on individuals and the environment. These effects include decreased aesthetic appeal, increased stress levels, negative impacts on mental health, reduced property values, disruption of wildlife habitats, and impairment of visual communication and navigation. Additionally, visual pollution can contribute to environmental degradation and the deterioration of cultural and historical landmarks.

When evaluating a one-sided limit, you need to be careful when a quantity is approaching zero since its sign is different depending on which way it is approaching zero from. Let us look at some examples.
