What are the affects of population growth on economic development?
It is not necessary that population growth is bad.
There are two ways to look at population growth: 1.) overpopulation; 2.) improvement of human resources. India is an example of overpopulation, with an average population density of more than 350 persons per square kilometer. Overpopulation increases the burden on the economy (food capacity, illiteracy) because there are not enough job opportunities. Unemployment results in poverty, which then fuels competition for food among the impoverished and ultimately deteriorates the nation's economic situation.

Population growth can have both positive and negative effects on economic development. On the positive side, a growing population can lead to an increase in the labor force, which can contribute to higher productivity and economic output. Additionally, a larger population can create a larger consumer base, driving demand for goods and services and stimulating economic growth. However, population growth can also strain resources, leading to environmental degradation, increased competition for jobs and housing, and higher demands on infrastructure and social services. Additionally, if not managed properly, rapid population growth can exacerbate income inequality and poverty, hindering overall economic development.
