What are the advantages and disadvantages of renewable sources?
Renewable sources of energy aim to reduce global warming in some shape or form and also decrease the rate at which non-renewable energy sources, like fossil fuels, for example, are being used up.
As the name implies, all renewable energy sources are just that—renewable—meaning that the earth is replenishing them more quickly than human activity is using them. In contrast, fossil fuels, such as coal, oil, and gas, are depleting more quickly than nature is able to replenish them.
The fact that most renewable energy sources—such as wind turbines, solar panels, and wave machines—don't release CO2, or carbon dioxide, which is the main cause of global warming, is one of their commonalities.
One drawback is that, given the current rate of energy consumption, the amount of energy produced from renewable sources, such as the ones mentioned above, is insufficient to meet human needs.
