What are statistics of health problems (such as coughing, headaches, asthma) caused by pollution? Please cite your sources.
In Turkey, there are some studies
Regardless of age or gender, it was discovered between 2008 and 2010 that SO2 had a greater impact on asthma cases reported in Nigde than did PM10 (Fig. 6).
Between ambient SO2 concentration and the total monthly number of asthma cases in Nigde, the Pearson correlation coefficient was computed to be 0.4869. Based on 95% confidence, this value was found to be statistically significant (tcomputation03.25>tcritical(α00.01; df034)02.44). The number of asthma cases in Nigde between 2008 and 2010 was also found to be well correlated with PM10 concentration (tcomputation02.76>tcritical(α00.01; df034)0 2.44).
The results of the multiple correlation between the two independent variables (SO2 and PM10) showed that the number of asthma cases can be as low as 303 per month if low concentrations of both PM10 and SO2 exist in the ambient air. Additionally, it was found that the monthly total number of asthma cases reported (435±80) is significantly higher when SO2 concentrations are above 20 μgm−3 in Nigde compared to the asthma cases reported (388±71) when SO2 concentrations are below 20 μgm−3.
Analysis of variance was used to test these conditions. Three distinct SO2 groups (0–6 μgm−3 (clean air region), 7–30 μgm−3 (transition region), and >31 μgm−3 (impaired ambient air)) were chosen, and total asthma cases were grouped under this selection (each covering a 12-month period). Single-factor ANOVA revealed a significant difference between the total asthma cases and the ambient SO2 concentrations mentioned earlier (Fcomputation0 3.528>Fcritical(α00.05; 3; 33)03.285).
The Tukey's test indicates that there are differences in the number of asthma cases in Nigde between the periods of reduced ambient air quality and clean air.

The statistics regarding health problems caused by pollution vary depending on factors such as location, type of pollution, and population demographics. However, according to the World Health Organization (WHO), air pollution contributes to various health issues including respiratory diseases like asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), cardiovascular diseases, and even cancer. WHO estimates that outdoor air pollution causes around 4.2 million premature deaths worldwide annually. Additionally, the American Lung Association reports that air pollution can worsen existing respiratory conditions such as asthma, leading to increased hospitalizations and emergency room visits. For specific statistics related to coughing, headaches, and asthma caused by pollution, one would need to refer to regional health departments or research studies focusing on those particular health effects in relation to pollution.

When evaluating a one-sided limit, you need to be careful when a quantity is approaching zero since its sign is different depending on which way it is approaching zero from. Let us look at some examples.
