But the diagram does not mean that all of these risks will occur in any one region - its kind of an inclusive list, but each region would have its own risks that may not include all of these shown on the figure.

Some examples of how human activities affect the water supply include pollution from industrial and agricultural runoff, deforestation leading to soil erosion and decreased water retention, over-extraction of groundwater, and urbanization leading to increased runoff and reduced infiltration.
