Start by applying the distributive property.

#y+1/2=-1/3x-1/6#

Subtract #1/2# from both sides. The common denominator for #1/2#

and #1/6# is #6#. So #1/2*3/3=3/6#.

#y=-1/3x-1/6-3/6# =

#y=1/3x-4/6# =

Reduce #4/6# to #2/3#.

#y=-1/3x-2/3#

If this is supposed to be the slope-intercept equation for a line, the slope is #-1/3# and the y-intercept is #-2/3#.
