Is sublimation a chemical or physical change?

Answer 1

It is a physical change. See explanation.

A new substance (one or more) is created through a chemical change, also known as a reaction. For instance:

#HCl+NaOH -> NaCl + H_2O#
In this process (reaction) from 2 particles: acid (#HCl#) and a hydroxide (#NaOH#) another 2 substances: salt (#NaCl#) and water (#H_2O#) are formed.

There are no new substances created during a physical change.

A solid becomes a gas after sublimation, but the substance remains the same; only the state of matter has changed.

When evaluating a one-sided limit, you need to be careful when a quantity is approaching zero since its sign is different depending on which way it is approaching zero from. Let us look at some examples.
