Yes the earth undergoes natural cycles of warming and cooling

Fossil coal beds are indicators of a much warmer climate in the past. There have been periods of earth's history when the average temperature and humidity levels were much higher than they are today. These are known as the Ice Ages, when much of the earth was covered by glaciers and the average temperature was much cooler than the present.

The known history of Greenland demonstrates the existence of natural warming and cooling cycles. Around 1200–1400 AD, the Vikings occupied Greenland and were able to cultivate wheat and grapes there. However, as the climate cooled, the Vikings were forced to leave their settlements.

Due to fuel shortages, American fighter planes during World War II made emergency landings on glaciers. The planes were covered in ice for the next forty years, but recently the ice melted, revealing the planes sitting on the original glaciers from the war.

The earth's natural cycles of warming and cooling, in addition to human activities like burning fossil fuels, may be the cause of the current global warming trend.
