In what ways is Jupiter similar/different to Earth?

Answer 1

Jupiter is a gas giant where as Earth is a terrestrial planet.

The average density of Earth is approximately 5.5 gm/cm^, whereas that of Jupiter is only 1.3 gm/cm . The bulk of Earth is composed of rock, whereas the majority of Jupiter is hydrogen. Jupiter has 67 satellites, compared to Earth's single moon. Earth rotates in 23 hours 56 minutes, while Jupiter rotates in 9.9 hours.

Answer 2

Earth and Jupiter are similar in that they are both in the same solar system and orbit the Sun, but they are different in size, composition, and atmosphere. Earth is a terrestrial planet with a solid surface made mostly of rock and metal, whereas Jupiter is a gas giant with a diameter over 11 times greater. Jupiter also has a thick atmosphere that is primarily composed of hydrogen and helium, while Earth's atmosphere is primarily composed of nitrogen and oxygen.
