If diameter of Earth changed to 120,536 km, would its distance from the Sun, axial tilt, and rotation rate change?

Answer 1

This question is almost impossible to answer.

The answer to that question is crucial because it affects Newton's first law of motion with regard to the earth's orbit and rotation, the proverbial outside force. It also probably affects the earth's distance from the sun, pushing it either closer or farther away. To start, you are suggesting the earth increases its mass by a factor of 10. How does that happen?

There are simply too many factors at play in this situation to provide a rational response.

Answer 2

Earth's axial tilt, rotation rate, and distance from the Sun would all remain relatively unchanged if its diameter were to increase to 120,536 km.

When evaluating a one-sided limit, you need to be careful when a quantity is approaching zero since its sign is different depending on which way it is approaching zero from. Let us look at some examples.
