How to calculate Ksp for CuSO4 and Ce2(SO4)3?

Hi,

How to calculate the Ksp of CuSO4 and Ce2(SO4)3, knowing the quantitty disolved, which is 24.057587g and 6.21457g respectively? I calculated the molarity and got 2 for CuSO4 and 0.1 for Ce2(SO4)3 (at 25 degrees C ).

For the dissolution reaction.....we calculate #K_"sp"#....

#CuSO_4(s) rightleftharpoons Cu^(2+) + SO_4^(2-)#
#K_"sp"=[Cu^(2+)][SO_4^(2-)]#
We are quoted a solubility of #24.06*g*L^-1# with respect to copper sulfate....i.e. #"molar solubility"=((24.06*g)/(159.61*g*mol^-1))/(1.00*L)=0.151*mol*L^-1#
And thus #[Cu^(2+)]=[SO_4^(2-)]=0.151*mol*L^1#
#K_"sp"=(0.151*mol*L^-1)^2=2.28xx10^-2#
For #Ce_2(SO_4)_3(s) rightleftharpoons 2Ce^(3+) + 3SO_4^(2-)#
#K_"sp"=[Ce^(3+)]^2[SO_4^(2-)]^3#
#"molar solubility"=((6.22*g)/(332.24*g*mol^-1))/(1.00*L)=0.0187*mol*L^-1#
And so #K_"sp"=[Ce^(3+)]^2[SO_4^(2-)]^3#
#=(2xx0.0187)^2xx(3xx0.0187)^3=??#
Why did I include the #2# and #3# multipliers for #[Ce^(3+)]# and #[SO_4^(2-)]#?
