On January 19, 2006, NEW HORIZON was launched, and on July 14, 2015, it approached the proximity of Pluto. During the launch, its speed was 16.26 KM/s. Later, on July 14, 2015, it increased to 4 KM/s thanks to Jupiter's gravity acting as a sling shot.
