How long does it take light from other stars to reach Earth?

Liight travels 300,000 km in a second through vacuum, so the time varies with the distance: 8.2 minutes for the Sun, 4.2 years for the Proxima century, 8.3 years for Sirius, and 2.5 million years for the Andromeda galaxy.
