Here are some of the rules for naming alkynes.
They are named in the same manner as alkanes, with the exception that the -ane ending is swapped out for -yne.
You obtain -diyne, -triyne, etc. by using the multiplying prefixes when there are multiple triple bonds.
Step 1: Determine which continuous carbon chain has the triple bond the longest.
Step 2: Start counting the main chain's carbon atoms from the end that is closest to the triple bond.
As near as possible to the final -yne, insert the first number of alkyne carbons.
Hex-1-yne is the new name.
Step 3: List any additional substituents in alphabetical order along with their locating numbers.
For instance, 3-methylhexa-1,4-diyne is the compound mentioned above.
