The intricate structure of the DNA within the nucleus differs among individuals and may even be found in individual cells.

The most significant component of the DNA that determines the traits is the phosphate chain that is bonded to the pentose sugar, which is bonded to the nitrogen base pairs (there are five total, but only four occur in DNA: adenine, cysteine, guanine, thymine (only in DNA), and uracil (only in RNA, replaces thymine).

Cytosine is complementary to Guanine, and Adenine is complementary to Thymine/Uracil.

After DNA replication, the mRNA strands transcribe the DNA's arrangement, for example.

The triplet code comes into play once this is copied and transferred to the ribosomes for translation. Three consecutive base pairs code for one of the 20 amino acids, so the arrangement of amino acids in protein chains results in distinct traits.
