Human temperature is constant at 37.5 degrees Celsius. All endothermic animals, including birds and mammals, maintain a constant body temperature. Birds have a maximum rate of metabolism and a body temperature of about 40 degrees Celsius. Mammals maintain a constant body temperature through the same mechanism. Mammals eat more because most of their food is used to generate heat.
