Gamma radiation is used to generate electricity using RTG (radioisotope Thermoelectric Generator). But they must produce it using nuclear reaction because gamma radiation from space is insufficient for that purpose.

Certain types of photovoltaic panels use electromagnetic waves that are visible in the spectrum.

In the meantime, space is home to a wide variety of electromagnetic radiation sources that can reveal details about the composition of different stars, neutron stars, black holes, and other astronomical bodies.

For instance, distinct stars release a distinct set of discrete spectral lines that reveal the elements that make up the star.

Satellites receive signals from the earth as well. The Vela satellite, for instance, has X-ray sensors that are able to identify the detonation of nuclear ammunition. This enables control and monitoring in order to stop illicit nuclear testing.
