We "detect" or "sense" many forms of energy. We call it "seeing" from our cultural and language background.

Although quasars are very bright, we cannot actually "see" them with the naked eye. Instead, we use radio telescopes and more powerful visible telescopes like the Hubble to detect their presence and distinguish them from other types of bodies based on their energy emissions.
