How can species diversity be maintained?
Primarily by avoiding the shifting of natural habitat equilibrium from exploitation (over-harvesting, introduction of foreign species, excessive suppression of 'pests').
From an environmental standpoint, we propose that ecological and evolutionary processes that preserve an equilibrium for stable existence are the reasons why all species are found where they are.
However, a new equilibrium is then established, usually returning to a previous state and then continuing a cycle of increasing and decreasing. Throughout it all, "diversity" is maintained because species are more likely to differentiate even further than to condense into only a few primary forms. In practice, this equilibrium is regularly upset in cycles due to either climate or predation.
It is primarily the responsibility of humans to preserve as much species diversity as possible, given that only they have truly developed the capability to directly affect the sustainability or destruction of habitats in a relatively short amount of time. Of course, this is also constrained by the need for continued human expansion and viability, so if humans do not exercise self-control, eventually the ecosystem WILL have to constrain humanity.
Even though the species involved and their particular habitats might not be the ones we observe today, species diversity is likely to be preserved in the long run.

Species diversity can be maintained through various mechanisms, including habitat conservation, sustainable resource management, ecosystem restoration, and protection of keystone species. Additionally, promoting genetic diversity within populations and preventing the introduction of invasive species are crucial for maintaining species diversity. Conservation efforts should focus on preserving natural habitats, creating wildlife corridors to connect fragmented habitats, and implementing policies to reduce habitat destruction and degradation. Moreover, raising awareness about the importance of biodiversity and engaging local communities in conservation initiatives can contribute to the preservation of species diversity.

When evaluating a one-sided limit, you need to be careful when a quantity is approaching zero since its sign is different depending on which way it is approaching zero from. Let us look at some examples.
