Explain why atoms have different isotopes. In other words, how is it that helium can exist in three different forms?

Answer the question plz

Answer 1

This is because of the variation of number of neutrons in the nucleus of an atom.

The original atom of helium has 4 as its mass number( 2 protons and 2 neutrons) but in the case of Helium-2, it has 2 protons and no neutrons.

Answer 2

Atoms have different isotopes because they can have varying numbers of neutrons in their nuclei while retaining the same number of protons, which determines their elemental identity. This variation in neutron number results in isotopes with different atomic masses. For example, helium can exist in three different forms, known as isotopes: helium-3, helium-4, and helium-5. Each of these isotopes has the same number of protons (2) but a different number of neutrons, which leads to differences in atomic mass.

When evaluating a one-sided limit, you need to be careful when a quantity is approaching zero since its sign is different depending on which way it is approaching zero from. Let us look at some examples.
