Biotic factors in an ecosystem are the living things that affect other things in that ecosystem.

An ecosystem is a community of organisms that interact with each other and with the abiotic and biotic factors. Biotic factor is the living component. This includes animals that consume the organism and the living food that the other organism consumes. Biotic factors with which an organism interacts depends on whether it is a producer, a consumer or a decomposer. These organisms can include predators, parasites, prey, symbionts, or competitors. Biotic factors also include human influence, pathogens and diseases outbreaks. These diverse organisms stay together because of the need for food. Each biotic factor needs energy to do work and food for proper growth. All species are affected by biotic factors in one way or the other.
