Even if wormholes exist, we do not know of a way of opening one.

A wormhole, also called an Einstein-Rosen bridge, is a spacetime aperture that connects to a different location or possibly a different era.

Although there are solutions to General Relativity that permit wormholes, it has been demonstrated that in the event that both ends are located in the same universe, the wormhole will collapse before any matter, including light, can pass through it.

Small wormholes may be created momentarily by quantum fluctuations, according to certain theories; however, enlarging and stabilizing the opening of a wormhole of this kind would require unobserved exotic matter.

For now, wormholes for fast interstellar travel are firmly in the realm of science fiction, but even though they are theoretically possible, it is extremely unlikely that one could be opened to connect two specific regions of spacetime. New developments in physics could however change this.
