Why do we suffer from jet lag?

Answer 1

Our body clock is out of sync with the actual time where you have gone.

As a result, when it was time to go to bed in New York at 12, I would be wide awake because my body would have an extra five hours of energy to run on. If I stay up until five in the morning in London, I would be "lagging" behind the actual time. This scenario would occur if I am awake for sixteen hours a day, wake up in New York, and take a flight to London.

Answer 2

Jet lag is a temporary sleep disorder that occurs when your body's internal clock is out of sync with the time zone you're in. It's caused by rapid travel across multiple time zones, which disrupts your body's natural circadian rhythm. This disruption can lead to symptoms such as fatigue, difficulty sleeping, and irritability. Jet lag typically lasts for a few days as your body adjusts to the new time zone.
