Why is it better to only collect tree branches rather than cut down an entire tree?

In addition to meeting present needs without jeopardizing the ability of future generations to use them, sustainable development preserves and advances both the planet and humankind. It is defined as development that does not harm natural resources in order to ensure that our descendants will be able to use them as well.

In addition to controlling population, promoting public participation, and developing human resources, sustainable development also fosters a sense of responsibility towards mother nature. It preserves ecosystems, biodiversity, and cultural heritages.

Allow me to use one example to demonstrate sustainable development.

There is no denying the benefits of trees: we use them to make furniture, we use them to generate energy, etc.

It is sustainable because you are protecting your tree. For example, if you have a mature tree, say 30 meters long, and it covers an area of, say, 300 square meters, it will continue to live. Some of its branches may be dead, but you can cut them off to get fuel. Every year, there will probably be new dead branches that you will benefit from.

But if you decide one day to chop down your tree and you do, that tree won't be around anymore. It erodes soil, destroys biodiversity (birds using trees as nesting sites, for example), and isn't sustainable—you lost a resource that you could have used forever.

Collecting tree branches rather than cutting down an entire tree is better because it allows the tree to continue growing and providing oxygen, habitat, and shade. Additionally, removing branches can stimulate new growth and promote overall tree health. Cutting down an entire tree can disrupt ecosystems, reduce biodiversity, and contribute to deforestation, leading to negative environmental impacts.
